European Research Projects on Mental Disorders

The maintenance, improvement and restoration of human health are of fundamental importance and priority in all countries. Biomedical and health research provide an important basis for the improvement of healthy living. Among the many diseases affecting human health, mental disorders of the brain are major causes of morbidity, mortality and impaired quality of life. Mental disorders comprise depression and bipolar disorders, phobia and anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and other mental disorders. The NEURON Joint Transnational Call 2010 “European Research projects on Mental Disorders” addressed these important neurological topics: improving the understanding of pathological processes underlying mental and psychiatric diseases and developing new strategies for their (early) diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation were the major aims of this call.
